Ankeny Girls Softball Competitive Softball Information and Registration

Mission Statement:         

AGSA exists to provide opportunities for girls to play fastpitch softball by promoting and supporting fastpitch competitive softball in the Ankeny School District.  Emphasizing development of fundamental softball skills in a fun, safe and competitive environment, AGSA has the objective of ensuring that girls participating in the program will have a positive and rewarding experience that will maximize personal and team growth.

What is AGSA?:  

AGSA is made up of a Board of Directors, participants and their parents. Nominations and elections of all officers are held in October of each year at a time announced to all voting members. The family of each child participating in the softball program shall be granted one vote per member (18 years or older) of a participating child. AGSA holds announced meetings on the first Monday of each month, in which any member of the Association may come and participate. Association decisions are made according to parliamentary procedure where motions are made and seconded, discussion held, votes recorded and minutes taken. We have written by-laws, which are available at The Board of Directors is responsible for: organizing the Association; assigning coaches; representing the Association in meetings with the local community; setting overall policy direction; managing the budget; developing the yearly calendar of events; acting as the final decision body for any issues; establishing a code of conduct for players, coaches and fans that is in the best interest of fair play and sportsmanship; and identifying the tactical objectives to achieve these strategic goals. 

AGSA Goals and Objectives:  

The business, purpose and object of the Association shall not be for profit but shall be as follows: 

(a) To provide a recreational softball opportunity through the Recreation League program for any girl wanting to play softball, whether they reside in the Ankeny School District or not, and to provide a competitive softball opportunity through the AGSA Competitive program for girls attending school in the Ankeny School District or residing within the Ankeny School District. 

(b) To promote a high level of sportsmanship among participants, parents, coaches, and spectators

(c) To develop physical skills related to softball and good moral character 

(d) To provide facilities and equipment necessary for the safe operation of said Association 

(e) To provide an opportunity for each girl to participate regardless of race, religion, or physical/mental ability. 7 

(f) To establish and maintain rules and regulations providing fairness to all participants 

Regisration Fees:     

6U - $225 per player

7U & 8U - $425 per player (Fall and Spring)

7U -12U - $350 per player (Spring)

9U through 13U - $550 per player

Registration fees collected will include a $75 concession opt-out fee.  Families will not be required to work concessions unless they choose to.  Members wishing to work concessions may volunteer for concession duty and have their concession opt-out fee returned.  To work concession and have the opt-out fee returned please contact the concession manager listed on the AGSA website and provide your availability.


Our organization will be having all new jerseys for Fall 2021 and Spring 2022 season.  Uniform fittings will take place on Tuesday, June 22 for 11U through 13U and Tuesday, June 29th for 7U through 10U at Prairie Ridge Sports Complex (next to the concession stand in the Quad).  Royal blue socks and black pants are apart of the uniform and can be purchased either on-line or at any sport goods stores.  All outdoor practices do require long pants.  Face masks are required for all ages.

Refund Policy:

Any requests for registration refunds must be made in writing no less than 15 days prior to the conclusion of the last event entered by the team the player is assigned to.  The request must be approved by a vote of the AGSA Board of Directors.  Partial to full refunds may be issues because of family relocation out of the Ankeny School District, injury to the player or for reasons the AGSA Board believes warrants a refund.  Refunds are generally not issued if leaving the association due to team placement or joining another team outside of AGSA.
